Summit combines a 4K single-use surgical arthroscope with the company’s cloud-based software Pristine Connect. The device provides a high-definition image every time. The scope is simple to set up and 100% sterile, Pristine said. Its transparent pricing model and automated inventory management also improve predictability and workflow. The device received FDA clearance in January of this year.
Manchester, New Hampshire-based Pristine Surgical cited “an overwhelmingly positive response” to Summit during a limited market release. The company today said it made the scope available to hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers across the U.S.
“Summit is a fully integrated single-use scope with 4K resolution that simplifies arthroscopic procedures and packs the latest in minimally invasive visualization technology into a sterile, cost-effective, ready-to-use package,” said Bryan Lord, CEO of Pristine Surgical. “I’m pleased with the feedback we’ve received, and we’re excited to make this game-changing arthroscope available nationwide to help surgeons and their teams innovate their endoscopy suite.”
The device integrates with a surgery center’s existing endoscopy tower, allowing it to upgrade without major capital investment. Pristine Surgical offers a first-of-its-kind subscription model for cost-effectiveness and practicality. It also has sustainability partnerships to provide recycling options to customers.
Dr. Stephen J. Snyder, Pristine Surgical’s chief medical officer, called the system “a major leap forward.”
“We developed Summit to address the challenges inherent to conventional surgical visualization—which relies on reusable arthroscopes that become obsolete, are difficult and costly to maintain and are prone to wear, damage, and potential infection,” Snyder said.
